Our Story
Of course, our story is quite hilarious. It all started on a Friday night in August 2010 at a restaurant in Maryland (Austin Grill) when Andrea strutted in with her friend. They were deep in conversation about how she needed to start speaking English to meet more people. Andrea's friend suggested that her best bet would be to date someone bilingual or an English speaker.
Andrea chuckled and said, “Sure, I'd love an American boyfriend, but I’d probably just turn into a tomato trying to speak English with him!” She was terrified at the thought of chatting in English with someone she liked. So, her friend asked if she had her eye on anyone, and Andrea dramatically pointed to Rob, who had been eyeing her the whole night. She remembers that he was wearing jeans and a white shirt—tall, athletic, and, of course, bald. A real head-turner!
Andrea made her way to the bar for a refill, and Rob casually said, "Hello." Her nerves kicked in like she chugged a gallon of espresso. He asked her something, and she nervously replied that she only spoke Spanish. IMMEDIATELY, he shot back, “I speak Spanish, Miss!” Andrea thought seriously, was this guy for real? He asked for her number, but she played hard to get and didn’t give it to him. She thought what are the chances? A tall, handsome guy who speaks Spanish? It felt like she was in a rom-com!
Andrea returned to her table, practically buzzing with excitement. Just then, Rob started making the trek to the bathroom...multiple times. His bladder was as strong as his interest! He passed her table and said “hello” like it was his new favorite word. After the fifth time, he raised his hand from across the room and said, "Goodbye, Miss!"
At that moment, Andrea's friend took matters into her own hands. She called Rob over and boldly said, “Here’s her number—call her!” He called her, and they've been together ever since.

Accommodation Details
Recommended Hotels in Getsemaní, Cartagena
All events will occur in the Getsemaní area, Cartagena's heart. As a colonial city, the buildings and hotels are small and preserve the 1800s architecture. For this reason, we recommend the following hotels, which combine a modern-American touch while retaining their colonial essence. They are conveniently located just a few minutes walk from all the events:
Hotel OSH Getsemani
Cl. 31 #10 – 77, Getsemaní, Cartagena, *Strongly recommended
Hotel Casa Tere Getsemani
#- a -106, Calle 31 #9-23, Cartagena
Useful Tips
Dear Guests,
We are delighted to have you with us to celebrate this special day in Cartagena. We would like to share some useful tips to make your experience in this beautiful city even more comfortable and enjoyable.
Transportation:
As Cartagena is a popular tourist destination, we recommend using transportation apps such as Uber, Didi, or InDriver to get around the city. These apps allow you to pay exactly what the fare indicates, without surprises. Be sure to check the price before confirming the ride. Please kindly avoid taking taxis or public services, as the rates for foreigners are often excessive. Using transportation apps will help you avoid inconveniences and ensure a safe and reliable trip.
Shopping:
We also suggest not being persuaded by street vendors offering massages, crafts, or photos without first consulting or verifying the real price. Sometimes, they may charge you up to three times the original value of the product.
Tipping:
In Colombia, tips are optional in about 90% of services. However, in some cases, the tip is already included in the bill, especially at restaurants and hotels. We recommend reviewing the bill before paying to confirm whether the tip has been added. If the tip is not included and you wish to leave something extra for good service, it is entirely at your discretion.
